Der Sea Harrier mit der Kennung XZ457 gehörte ursprünglich zur 899 Naval Air Squadron, wurde aber wie der großteil der Staffel während der Operation Corporate in die 800 Naval Air Squadron integriert und verlegte mit der HMS Hermes in den Südatlantik.

Am 21.05.1982 gelang Lt.Cdr. Andrew Donaldson Auld ein Luftsieg gegen eine argentinische A-4Q Skyhawk, welche zuvor in einem Dreierverband die HMS Ardent bombardiert hatten.
